Savannah and Nolan’s summer North End Boston engagement session.
On a beautiful June night, we headed to Boston for Savannah and Nolan’s summer North End engagement session! Savannah and Nolan’s journey began as high school sweethearts. Their love for the city lead them to a shared life in Boston’s North End. This neighborhood, rich in history and culture, has been their home and the perfect location for their Boston engagement photos.
The North End is a reflection of Savannah and Nolan’s story. This session felt like spending a summer evening with two old friends! After living in the neighborhood for over three years, every corner holds a memory. Their engagement session wasn’t about finding the most scenic landmarks—it was about documenting what this time in their lives really feels like!
We started at Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park, just as the summer light began to soften. We explored the waterfront and enjoyed the views. The Rose Kennedy Rose Garden was in full bloom with colorful florals. This part of the city has a natural rhythm in the summertime, and they just fit right into it. Some of my favorite photos came from the in-between moments and just letting them be completely themselves.
What I loved most was how every location we visited held some kind of personal connection. We made our way through the cobblestone streets, passing restaurants they’ve shared countless dinners at, and ultimately stopping in front of their apartment building for a few portraits. It’s their first home together, and it felt important to document that above all. It was equally important to capture this stage of their life when they’re young, in love, and building their life together in the city.
Lastly, to wrap up the night, they took me to Café Amaro, to grab celebratory drinks. It was the perfect way to end the session: unposed, relaxed, and very them. They cozied into a window table with wine and just took in the evening.
This summer engagement session really reminded me how much I love photographing Boston engagement photos that are personal and meaningful. North End engagement photos like these—filled with the everyday kind of love—will always stand out to me. It’s not just about pretty locations or perfect lighting (although we had both!); it’s about documenting what your life feels like at this exact moment. It was one of those sessions I didn’t want to end!
