A timeless celebration with historic architecture, thoughtful design, and a relaxed New England feel.

Libby & Andrew’s Glen Manor House wedding in Portsmouth, Rhode Island was an intimate celebration set along the Sakonnet River. With historic architecture, formal gardens, and waterfront views, Glen Manor House is a timeless choice for couples planning a Rhode Island wedding near Newport.

Libby is a florist herself, which made handing over the creative reins a meaningful part of the planning process. Trusting another florist with her vision became one of the most memorable elements of the day — not because it was difficult, but because it was done so thoughtfully.
Working with David Gregory Flowers, Libby remained involved in the planning while allowing space for execution. She came prepared with detailed notes and ideas, trusting that her vision would be understood and respected. Seeing those ideas come to life on the day itself became one of her standout moments.
Libby and I also share a connection as graduates of Massachusetts College of Art and Design. That shared creative background brought an added layer of understanding to the day — especially in how she approached her vision, trusted the process, and allowed space for collaboration. It was a quiet but meaningful thread woven throughout the celebration.

Hosting their wedding on a Thursday allowed Libby and Andrew to keep the day intentionally intimate. A weekday wedding at Glen Manor House created a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere — giving them the space to slow down, spend meaningful time with their guests, and experience the property from start to finish.

One of the advantages of hosting a micro wedding at Glen Manor House is how efficiently portraits can be incorporated. With gardens, architecture, and waterfront views all within steps of each other, portraits were taken naturally throughout the afternoon without taking the couple away from their guests for long periods of time.
The reception continued on the property, allowing the celebration to remain intimate and cohesive. With a smaller guest list, conversations felt personal and the evening moved organically from dinner into toasts and dancing. The scale of Glen Manor House works particularly well for micro weddings, creating an elevated atmosphere that still feels relaxed and personal.

For couples planning a Rhode Island micro wedding, Glen Manor House offers privacy, flexibility, and a setting that feels complete without being overwhelming. Its location in Portsmouth provides proximity to Newport while maintaining a quieter, more residential feel — ideal for couples prioritizing connection, experience, and timeless design over a large guest count.

The celebration began the night before with a rehearsal dinner in Newport, Rhode Island, photographed on site. Capturing both the rehearsal dinner and wedding day allowed for a fuller story of the weekend — from the relaxed energy of the evening before to the intimacy of the wedding day at Glen Manor House.

As a Boston-based wedding photographer serving New England, I regularly photograph weddings throughout Rhode Island, including Glen Manor House in Portsmouth. Its waterfront setting, historic architecture, and thoughtful layout photograph beautifully for intimate celebrations in every season.
