A Guide to Granite Links, a Boston Wedding Venue

Advice

Granite Links wedding photographer

Granite Links is one of my favorite wedding venues in the Greater Boston area! Surrounded by a beautiful golf course, Granite Links combines incredible city views with elegant reception spaces. It is located just seven miles from downtown Boston in Quincy, MA, and is perfect for weddings of all sizes!

As a photographer who has captured many weddings here, I can attest to its charm and exceptional service. Here’s a guide to showcase Granite Links and help you learn more about this fantastic venue!

Boston South Shore Wedding Venue

Granite Links offers multiple spaces for weddings and events of all kinds! This venue includes rental of the facilities and in-house catering with extensive food and bar options. You can select from a variety of food choices to match the season and aesthetic of your day! They can also accommodate your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, but it is not required.

While you cannot do your hair and makeup on site they do have a spacious suite available for you to relax and put on final touches before the ceremony. Your ceremony can be held outdoors on the lawn if you are having a tented wedding or in the ballroom if your wedding is in the ballroom. Here is a map of Granite Links so you can see an overview of the property.

Ceremony Locations at Granite Links

Having your ceremony on-site will include coordination of the ceremony itself and the rental of chairs. Your ceremony location will be specific to the reception space you book. So if your reception is in the Ballroom, your ceremony will be in the ballroom. They will utilize half of the ballroom for the ceremony and flip the remaining part of the room for the reception. Your coordination team will take care of everything during your cocktail hour!

If you have the tent reception, you are offered the outdoor ceremony space on the lawn. The tent is offered as a backup if there is rain on your wedding day. Having your ceremony on-site will include coordination of the ceremony itself and the rental of chairs.

The Grand Ballroom:

The Grand Ballroom is an elegant indoor reception space. It offers high ceilings, hardwood floors, and expansive windows that frame views of the Boston skyline and Harbor Islands. It is adjacent to an outdoor balcony that your guests can enjoy. The Grand Ballroom can hold up to 350 guests with a dance floor. This is a great option for weddings all year round!

The Pavilion Tent:

For those dreaming of an outdoor tented wedding, the seasonal Pavilion Tent is a great option. With the Boston skyline and golf course as your backdrop, this open-air, yet covered space provides a scenic area. Host your cocktail hour on the outdoor patio so guests can fully appreciate the panoramic views. In case of rain, the Pavilion Tent can be quickly transformed to accommodate your ceremony as well.

Ross Ballroom & Hannon Ballroom:

If you are looking to have a smaller or more intimate wedding the grand ballroom can be transformed into smaller spaces. The Ross Ballroom is perfect for couples having a small and intimate wedding. The Ross Ballroom is one-third of the Grand Ballroom. It features the same beautiful hardwood floors, high ceilings, walls of windows, and an outdoor terrace. It can accommodate up to 80 people seated and up to 50 seated with a dance floor. The Hannon Ballroom is two-thirds of the Grand Ballroom. It can accommodate up to 150 guests seated and up to 120 guests with a dance floor.

Wedding Portrait Locations at Granite Links

Granite Links offers a variety of locations for couples portraits, wedding party portraits, and family portraits.

The Overlook:
The most popular and favorite spot for couple portraits is the Overlook. It offers panoramic views of both the golf course and the Boston skyline. This location is perfect for capturing romantic shots with an epic backdrop!

Golf Path:
For a bit of privacy, the Golf Path is ideal for first-look photos in the warmer months. It provides the same beautiful views as the Overlook but with a more secluded vibe. It’s a great play to share vows privately before your ceremony.

High Grass Area:
This natural setting adds a dreamy, ethereal quality to intimate portraits, making it ideal for capturing quiet, romantic moments.

The Ruins:
This unique architectural spot is exclusively available for couples’ portraits. It adds a striking and artistic dimension to your wedding album.

Sunset Portraits at Granite Links

Sunset at Granite Links is a MUST! One of Granite Links’ most magical moments happens at sunset. As the sun dips behind the golf course, the venue is bathed in golden light, creating an enchanting ambiance for 10-15 minutes of portraits. It is well worth the time to step away from your reception briefly.

Tips for Planning Your Granite Links Wedding

  1. Include Sunset Portraits in Your Timeline:
Work with your coordinator/planner and photographer to schedule sunset portraits. Granite Links’ coordinators are seasoned professionals who can ensure these moments fit seamlessly into your timeline.
  2. Consider the Season:
Indoor spaces at Granite Links are stunning year-round, but if you’re planning for an outdoor tented event, remember the Pavilion Tent is only available from May through October.
  3. Plan for a Wedding Weekend:
Granite Links’ location offers easy access to numerous accommodation options, including the Quincy Marriott and hotels in downtown Boston. For a full wedding weekend experience, there are plenty of nearby dining and entertainment options, like Marina Bay’s waterfront dining or on-site after-party venues including Crossing Nine’s and The Tavern.
